Wai Khru 2022
Sotpattana School for the Deaf and the Pattaya Orphanage held Wai Khru ceremony to mark the beginning of the new academic year 2022 and formalize the student–teacher relationship, with 43 kids from both units attending the morning event. Rev. Michael Weera Phangrak, the Acting School Licensee and Director of the Orphanage, presided over the traditional Thai ritual starting with the offering of a garland in honor of Our Lady, the patroness of both the Deaf School and the Orphanage. Representatives of each class then presented decorated trays of flowers and meaningful items to representatives of teachers, expressing their gratitude. The remaining students, including preschoolers of the Orphanage, then offered fresh roses to the same group of elders. In closing, Rev. Francis Xavier Kritsada Sukkaphat, Deputy Director of the Orphanage, spoke to the participants, encouraging them to be attentive in class, persevere, know their duty and be good as well as be obedient to their teachers and elders. Every child then enjoyed refreshments before returning to the normal class.
